Sarah Blandena Farnsworth was the eldest child of James and Mary Farnsworth and the granddaughter of John and Sarah Odell, founders of the Odell Pioneer Cemetery. She was born in 1859 in Dayton, Oregon—the same year the state was admitted to the Union as the 33rd state.
Sarah passed away in 1863 at the age of four. While the exact cause of her death is unknown, that same year, her neighbors Henrietta and Ora Coovert succumbed to diphtheria. Given the highly contagious nature of the disease, it is possible that Sarah also fell victim to the same outbreak.
Her grave in the Odell Pioneer Cemetery remains unmarked, and her headstone is stolen or destroyed.
