In March 1858, James married widow Mary Elizabeth Odell. Although it is unknown how James and Mary met, after their marriage they lived next to prominent farmer Abram Coovert in the Webfoot area.
James & Mary’s eldest daughter, Sarah Blandena, died in 1863 at the age of 4.
James died in 1891, and Mary in 1895. James, Mary, and Sarah Blandena Farnsworth are buried in the Odell Pioneer Cemetery.
